Order Reduction of a Frequency Magneto-Dynamic Problem for the Calculation of Copper Losses

Résumé

Over the past decade, there has been a notable shift in the automotive industry towards electrifying vehicle propulsion systems. While electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity among consumers, many still face challenges such as limited range and high costs. Consequently, there is a growing demand for high-performance conversion systems, particularly in efficiency, while simultaneously managing costs. This study investigates a novel architecture known as IBIS (Intelligent Battery Integrated System), which is suitable for use as a power converter in electric vehicles. This structure is modeled and integrated with an electric machine and differs from the conventional architecture in terms of current in the same machine. This article investigates the consequences of this new structure in the machine by modeling current density in the conductors and calculating copper losses. A method for formulating a magneto-dynamic problem is presented. A new method for reducing the order of the problem is introduced, which allows for significant time saving while ensuring sufficient accuracy.
