Mitigating biases in codesign with people with disabilities: a question of posture

Estelle Peyrard

Résumé

Codesign with consumers is an uncertain practice. It often creates frustration within participants. It is particularly true with people with disabilities, who can have great expectations about innovation, to improve their quality of life. Analysing ten cocreation projects in the domain of disabilities, we identify 8 biases that can affect the communication between consumers and professionals. We propose recommendations toward practitioners’ posture to avoid those biases.
