Economic science and economic technology
Résumé
Both economic science (i.e. the production of scientific knowledge in the discipline of economics, its determinants and its consequences) and economic technology (i.e. methods, instruments and expertise in finance, accounting, marketing, management and other areas of economic practice) have been abundantly examined from a critical, social-scientific perspective. Rather than offering a neatly delineated perspective, approaches inspired by STS (science and technology studies) have contributed to this topic alongside history, philosophy and sociology, stimulating empirical investigations and theoretical interpretations, sometimes with a distinctive focus on economic models and economic calculation.
