Method for recovering metals contained in an Ni-MH battery

Résumé

The invention concerns a method for selectively recovering rare earths, nickel, cobalt, manganese and iron contained in a nickel-metal hydride battery. The method for selectively recovering rare earths, nickel, cobalt, manganese and iron contained in an Ni-MH battery according to the invention comprises crushing the battery, eliminating the potassium hydroxide contained in the crushed battery, recovering the "black mass", dissolving the "black mass" in an acid, precipitating the iron with an oxidation state of +3, precipitating MnO2, precipitating Co2O3.3H2O, precipitating the rare earths in oxalate form, and precipitating Ni(OH)2. The invention is applicable in the field of recycling Ni-MH batteries.
