La victoire de Radu Şerban, prince de Valachie à la bataille d’Ogretin-Teişani (23-24 septembre 1602)
Résumé
Requsted in July, 1602, by the Ottoman command, on the Hungarian front, against the Habsburg, the army of the khan of Crimea Gazi Ghirai II (25 to 30.000 riders), received meanwhile, a second mission which it was necessary to achieve during its march towards the Central Europe: help Simion Movila, ally of the Ottoman and the Poles, to reconquer the wallachian throne. The wallachian army under the command of the new prince Radu Serban, succesor of Michael the Brave and allied of Habsburg, blocked her way between the villages of Ogretin and Teisani on the valley of Teleajan. The imperial general Giorgio Basta who camped to Prejmer in Transylvania sent him a reinforcement of 2.000 cavalrymens. After two days of a fierce battle (23 on September 24th), the tatar army is pushed away with heavy losses. The khan was obliged to withdraw to Silistra on the Danube by abandoning the Hungarian theater of operations. This battle represents one of the important military episodes of the participation of Wallachia in the Long war (1591-1606), conflict in whom she had joined, from 1594, the camp of Habsburg.
