UNUSUAL STOICHIOMETRY FOR NEW CONDUCTING ENANTIOPURE RADICAL CATION SALTS OF TM-BEDT-TTF WITH THE W6O19 2- DIANION

Résumé

In our previous work, we have described two isostructural enantiopure radical cation salts, obtained by electrocrystallization of tetramethyl-bis(ethylenedithio)-tetrathiafulvalene (TM-BEDT-TTF), as pure (S,S,S,S) and (R,R,R,R) enantiomers, in the presence of (n-Bu4N)2(Mo6O19) and bromoform, namely (TM-BEDT-TTF)9(Mo6O19)5, (CHBr3)x, with unusual stoichiometry. Here, we present the synthesis optimization of the chiral thione which leads to the (S) or (R)-(TM-BEDT-TTF) donors that we have engaged in electrocrystallization with (n-Bu4N)2(W6O19) and CHBr3 as solvent. Two enantiopure radical cation salts, isostructural with the previous Mo6O19 2- salts, have been obtained and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Single crystal resistivity measurements show semiconducting behavior.
