Characterization of Human Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields in Realistic Scenarios

Résumé

This article presents an innovative project aiming to characterize human exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) emitted by communication devices used in close proximity to the human body. The main objective is to develop a characterization protocol for EMF exposure in realistic environments and scenarios. This protocol will use and combine experimental measurements (supplied by ART-Fi) and numerical simulations (provided by LEAT). A variety of EMF sources will be considered to accurately assess the levels of energy/power absorbed by the biological tissues of a diverse population (including 32 adults, children, pregnant women, and the elderly). The combination of an RF near-field phasor probe array and powerful simulation techniques allow to address those challenges taking into account both research and industrial goals.
