The situation of EU and non-EU separated children in Italy

Résumé

The issue of separated children in Italy is relevant both in the dimension of the phenomenon and for the laws and policies adopted, some of which may be considered good practices at European level, while others imply serious violations of children’s rights. < /br> Note of the author < /br> By the time this article was written, a governmental election process was taking place in Italy. As a consequence of the new political scene since April 2008, some changes in the migration regulations have been made and more are expected very soon. < /br> This article was finished before the election and constitution of the new Government. Therefore it does not take into consideration the new political scene and the related changes concerning unaccompanied migrant children. (Elena Rozzi, July 2008)
