Experimentation in Management Science

Résumé

The chapter aims to deepen understanding of experimental practices and their contribution to management sciences. It examines the integration of experimental methods in management, noting its delayed adoption compared to economics. It explores the challenges hindering wider application in management, including classic experimental difficulties and biases. Through the lens of philosophy of science, we discuss experimental perspectives within management sciences, based on the existing literature as well as on practical experience in intervention-research projects. This chapter details the research context in management, the role of experimentation (laboratory and field), and the experimental continuum in management sciences, addressing methodological, ethical, and political challenges.
