Time-Frequency resource detection for Cognitive Radio - IoT (CR-IoT)

Résumé

The huge Spread of Internet of Things devices with the increased instantly need for communicating with a frequency bands has led to increased spectrum congestion and scarcity. This has posed a significant challenge to the reliability and efficiency of wireless communications. This paper introduces CR-IoT, a novel approach that integrates Cognitive Radio capabilities with Internet of Things to dynamically manage the radio frequency spectrum. CR-IoT systems improve spectral efficiency by enabling IoT devices to detect spectrum holes and use them for Data transmission in real time. A critical aspect of CR-IoT functionality is temporal spectrum sensing, which involves not only detecting available spectrum, but also predicting when and for how long these bands will remain free, enabling more strategic and efficient use of the spectrum. This paper explores the basic functionalities of CR-IoT, including spectrum sensing, decision-making, mobility, and sharing, which collectively improve the utilization of radio frequency resources. It also outlines the current spectrum sensing techniques within a CR-IoT system and proposes the development and implementation of advanced algorithms specifically designed for joint frequency and temporal prediction in CR-IoT systems.
