Safety assessment of mixed traffic based on accident scenario
Résumé
Nowadays, vehicles are more and more equipped with systems that help or replace drivers to avoid or reduce critical situations. These systems are designed to alert them and to maintain a safety time gap with his leader in car following driving tasks. Because of the high cost of these systems, a diversity of driving modes are encountered in traffic, mixing human and automated driving. Safety analysis in mixed road traffic has not received much attention. This paper deals with driver safety studies using two new suitable descriptors in case of critical situations like accident. Simulation results, using the two evaluation approaches, confirm that the traffic is more secured in the presence of more automated vehicles with quantitative analysis.
