Use of information and communication technology (ICT) and the appropriation process involved in an online based writing novel in french as foreign language : what process should we use to study together via a blended learning?

Résumé

In a time where civilizations opened communication among each others, learning/teaching languages turns more and more to ICT suggested tools. The user is often confronted with a wide offer of software : these ones are most of the time "strongly" well-designed for an easy use, but among them some stay unused and useless so they join soon other software. What makes software successful ? In other words, this comes to wonder about the process that makes the user appropriate these tools. The question is sharply asked when the students have to work together through a teaching platform online. In a paradoxical way, its richness in software can hinder to have a hold on it. The risk is big to see the students disheartened and giving up. Thus, our research will study how the users will turn to some software in the process of collaborative plan in an online task. We will examine the appropriation process associated with ICT in foreign language. The study will look at the appropriation process involved in an online based writing workshop in French as a foreign language between students of the Antonine University (Lebanon) and the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis (France). We will share our observations in a specific conceptual frame and we will draw conclusions that will be of great benefit to software designers. We will therefore see in which conditions software can contribute to certain creativity.
