This report presents a summary of the first debate organised as part of the ANR ETHICS40 project "Ethical Risk Management in the Industry of the Future" (ANR-236CE1060014), held on 27 September 2023 at the project partner Université Savoie Mont Blanc. The theme of the debate was "Ethical issues in Industry 4.0". The aim was to exchange ideas on this subject. The debate was structured in two parts. The first part was based on concrete situations drawn from the literature and from current industrial life, while the second part was devoted to discussion on the subject, using six questions put to the audience of around fifteen people, including researchers and industrialists. The debates held will be used to establish various questions in preparation for the ETHICS40 project. This document will be added to as the project progresses. The summary presented in this document is based on a debate initiated by a brainstorming method, followed by a pooling of the participants' personal thoughts. In this study, a very large majority of the ideas and arguments proposed by the audience have been reorganised by theme and are accompanied by elements of personal analysis proposed by the authors of this document. Moreover, this article has not been peer-reviewed.It has no scientific ambition.Its role is to contribute to an urgently needed debate on a highly complex subject.It should therefore be considered as a position paper drawn up following the discussions held during this debate, nothing more.
