This presentation explores the complex relationship between tradition and innovation in the field of modern Vedic recitation and ritual. It specifically examines the preservation of oral transmission and the transformation of the Vedas into sacred books, highlighting their materiality and their lasting importance in evolving cultural contexts. Grounded in interdisciplinary research and fieldwork, this contribution unravels the complex web of Vedic recitation and ritual performance. Through examples such as Guru Gaṅgeśvarānand Mahārāj's compilation of the Vedas into a printed book, the paper underscores the resilience and adaptability of Vedic traditions. Additionally, it emphasizes the challenges and underlines the ongoing need for support and promotion to ensure the safeguarding of these ancient ritual traditions for future generations.
