Decimation filter cascade for channel selection in multistandard receivers

Résumé

In this work, we propose a decimator filter able to deal with GSM and UMTS standards. This is a 4-stages cascade consisting of finite impulse response (FIR) filters and downsamplers. Using FIR filters allows to take into account downsampling and reduces the computation power (given in multiplications/sec). Implementation includes a mix of programmable and hard wired multipliers in order to guarantee matching for all standards and to optimize area and power consumption. Control unit allows programmability of the output frequency sampling.
