Experimental study of the triboelectric charging of a glass bead impacting against a polyurethane plate
Résumé
Triboelectric charging of a glass bead impacting against a polyurethane target is investigated under a carefully controlled environment. The subject of a particle triboelectric charging during a single impact has been reported before in many articles. Despite these works, the very mechanisms at the origin of charge transfer are still not completely understood, and it can be difficult to predict the charging of a particle of a specific material against another. Glass, for example, with its various possible chemical compositions, sometimes defies the expectations of triboelectric series. The variability in these results stems from the fact that triboelectric charging depends on many parameters, sometimes interdependent, that can be hard to access.
