A new model for phase equilibria of the ternary system (H 2 O -HI -I 2 )
Résumé
A new thermodynamic model is proposed to describe the phase equilibria of the ternary system (H 2 O-HI-I 2), known as the HI x system and which represents the latent source of hydrogen for the Iodine-Sulfur thermochemical cycle. An homogeneous approach is adopted, for the first time, where the Peng-Robinson equation of state is combined, by means of MHV2 mixing rule, to UNIQUAC activity coefficient model supplemented with the solvation of hydrogen iodide by water, as proposed by Engels.
