Connecting Detroit and Berlin through techno music.

Résumé

Detroit-Berlin axis represents techno music collaborations between the two cities. Beyond music creativity and artistic exchanges in the late eighties – late nineties, it produced a crossed history about techno. Berlin and Detroit nightlives are different since they developed through different urban strategies and social realities. This article argues about nighttime economy and the way music actors from their own perspectives, commitments and actions tend to develop live music performances for the sake of the cultural and artistic realms they do represent as subcultures. Disparate strategies are applied from Detroit and Berlin actors, operating different nightlife governances and ways of making music and orchestrating the city.
