Structure and Morphology Control in Thin Films of Conjugated Polymers Prepared by Convective self-Assembly Method

Résumé

In the past few decades, functional conjugated materials, small-molecules and polymers have emerged as a novel class of materials with useful optoelectronic properties in combination with low-cost solution processing and high flexibility in tailoring their optoelectronic properties to match specific application demands. The morphology and the optoelectronic properties of these materials are influenced by the method of processing. Among the available processing methods, convective self-assembly also known as evaporation-induced self-assembly method, is now an emergent method for the deposition of organic semiconductors. In this talk, we will discuss how the fact that by precisely controlling the deposition parameters mainly, temperature of the substrate, blading speed, surface tension of the solvent, and the surface energy of the substrate, etc., the forces acting at the triple air–substrate–solution interface can be manipulated to create a variety of structured films with different morphologies.
