Earth Care Hope : Steps to an Ecological Ethic of Care in the Anthropocene Era

Résumé

I will define the term “Care” as an attention, a posture, an action favoring the flourishing of life: care can be directed towards oneself, others, democratic institutions and living ecosystems. This is our common ground of our team of researchers (GIS Theory and practice of care) and practitioners of care. The significant role of Philosophy of Care is to develop theories and practices in order to enhance our ability to pay attention and make visible every sentient being and subtle relationships that make our world liveable. This perceptive capacity enables us to develop a sense of consideration and concern for humans and non-humans - that contributes to preserving the conditions of the habitability of our Earth (Barniaudy 2020, Biancofiore 2020). The emergence of such vision leads to a commitment to ethical and political actions aimed at taking care of oneself, other sentient beings, but also living ecosystems and democratic institutions.
