The IMPPACT study: Imaging and Microwave Potential to Predict Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis Treatment
Résumé
The surgical treatment of asymptomatic carotid stenoses is still debated. In order to prevent neurological events and to avoid useless surgical procedures, identification of new parameters, apart from the degree of stenosis, or the development of new diagnostic methods would represent an important contribution. Microwaves have the capacity to characterize biological tissues. The objective of this study was (I) to identify vulnerability markers of the carotid plaques through a multimodal approach and (II) to evaluate the capacity of a new microwave device to identify the vulnerable plaques.
