Uses neural models from many different spatial scales to show how large-scale synchronization dynamics emerge from ion channels, synaptic receptors and intrinsic neuronal properties. Explores the physiological and computational roles of different types of oscillation during sleep and shows how "normal" oscillations can become “abnormal,” with a focus on epilepsy. Reissued in paperback, and updated after being unavailable for many years.
