Dynamic Identity and Access Management in the IoT: Blockchain‐based Approach

Résumé

This chapter demonstrates how intelligent identity and access management in the Internet of Things (IoT) could be improved thanks to use of blockchain technology. It presents the operation of some intelligent approaches for authentication and access control in the IoT. It describes an IoT architecture combining blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) and highlights the benefits that this architecture could present for intelligent identity and access management. The chapter also presents different works considering the use of blockchain to meet the current limits of intelligent identity and access management in the IoT: privacy protection, intelligent load distribution, trust management, the development of new intelligent solutions and the explainability of the AI process. The consensus algorithm is one of the elements essential to the operation of blockchain technology. The use of AI techniques to manage identity and access is today strongly supported in the IoT environment.
