How and why facilitators adapt the core ideas of professional development activities on multiplying natural numbers
Résumé
The implementation of professional development (PD) programs not only requires a scientifically substantiated conception – it also needs a professional transfer. To ensure this, it is important to analyze facilitators’ expertise and to understand, among other things, their adaptations of given PD material. Against this background, this paper presents a case study of a tandem of facilitators and their adaptations of selected PD activities for the PD content "conceptual understanding of multipli-cation". In doing so, we draw on existing research on facilitators’ expertise and adaptations. We thereby aim at finding justifications for facilitators’ adaptations and showing related consequences for teachers’ learning and facilitators’ preparation.
