Wave Formation and Drop Emission in a Hele-Shaw Cell

n a Hele-Shaw cell laying on the edge, we study experimentally and analytically the instability of the interface between a stream of liquid and a stream of gas. It is shown that the instability is related to a Kelvin-Helmholtz instability even if viscous effects are important. We study the onset of the instability, its transition from a convective to an absolute behavior, as well as the apparition of non-linear effects: localized waves, interactions between waves and drop emission by pinching of the top of the wave.
