Résultatif et accompli en coréen
Résumé
The Korean verbal suffix –ass- is usually used for an aspectuo-temporal significance "past-achievement". However, combined with certain verbs, it can represent a stative aspect. This use seems to reflect the history of this morpheme, which comes from the phonological contraction of the periphrastic form –a iss-ta. This form, used always in contemporary Korean, is in competition with the verbal suffix –ass- to express the state resulting from an event. The two forms are characterized however by their distribution and their manner of representing a resultative state.
