Résumé

in adaptations and rewritings of Euripide’s Medea at the turn of the 21st century creators do not merely focus on Medea’s crimes but try to understand her motives and her internal turmoil, justify her actions, defend her rights or suggest an alternative interpretation of the myth in an effort to specify her identity. Reflecting on this observation from a gender perspective, the aim of this article is to explore a different audio-visual perspective, namely live performance.
