Affective Dynamics of caregivers to those with Alzheimer's and resilience. Self-(re)construction through two devices : a digital platform and a biographical interview

Résumé

One does not choose to be a caregiver. One becomes one, forced by the dependence of a loved one. The construction of this new identity that is imposed on the caregiver involves more or less public statements on what it represents in daily life, the gestures, the experienced emotions. Based on the hypothesis that the communication device has an influence on its conceptualization and on what the caregiver gives to see of this conceptualization, this chapter proposes to compare the affective dynamics of caregiving as expressed and constructed in ten biographical semi-directive interviews (417 117 signs), extracted from the Accmadial corpus (ACCompagnants des Malades Diagnostiqués d'Alzheimer, led by PREFICS) and 10 discussions, extracted from the community forum dedicated to caregivers, Aidons les nôtres d'AG2R La Mondiale (144 006 signs). Impacted by the study of affects, feelings and emotions in several disciplinary fields and of the role of affects and of saying affects in particular (Damasio 2003, Averill and Rodis, in Barbier, Galatanu, 1996), the comparison between the two devices highlights the singularity of each of the modalities but above all allows us to put forward several interpretative hypotheses concerning the construction of identity in caring in each of them.
