Comparing continuation methods

Comparaison de méthodes de continuation numériques : MAN, AUTO, tir, ...

Résumé

We compare different numerical continuation softwares for the buckling of beams and rods in two and three dimensions. The numerical procedures include both the spatial discretisation of the equations for the statics of the elastic rod and the path following technique. These codes are written in different environments: Matlab, Mathematica, Fenics, Fortran 90. We compare both execution speeds and the ease with which these problems are setup in the softwares.
