NU(e), "Pierre Chappuis"
Résumé
Pierre Chappuis was born in 1930 in the Bernese Jura area of Switzerland, and passed away in late 2020, leaving behind a major work including more than twenty poetry books, as well as a dozen essays and note collections, not including artists’ books. Though he was attached to and favoured particular locations in Switzerland, his work is free of any aesthetic connection to specific Swiss places, as explained by Antonio Rodriguez.
Thanks to Béatrice Bonhomme’s unrelenting commitment, this issue of the NU(e) review intends to highlight the singularity of the author’s work, which has been acknowledged both by his contemporaries as well as authors of the following generation, born after the war. Now more than ever, academic research is studying this relatively unexplored work, both in Switzerland and in France.
