Plant Phenomics data management challenges and solutions based on the Minimum Information About Plant Phenotyping Experiments (MIAPPE)

Résumé

Plant Phenomics data management and integration has been a challenge for a long time due to their heterogenity and their dispersion. Nonetheless important progress have been made over the last decade, first through the building of data standards such as MIAPPE(Minimum Information About Plant Phenotyping Experiment, www.miappe.org), BrAPI(Breeding API, www.brapi.org) and the Crop Ontology(www.cropontology.org). They address complementary use cases form biologists users and computer scientists. This webinar will introduce their concepts and complementarity and give a brief overview of their usage from a user point of view. We will also quickly describe some solutions and tools designed for different steps of the data lifecycle, from data acquisition to description, analysis, and sharing as they are used at INRAE, ELIXIR and EMPHASIS. Hence, biologist should get a better understanding of the concepts used in data management tools and standards while computer scientists might get interesting ideas for their tools and services developments.
