This special issue is dedicated to contemporay theater and performance. It is a collective investigation exploring how the recent economic and aesthetic dynamics between theatre and the city have metamorphosed urban and theatrical practices. Playwrights Aleshea Harris and Roy Williams and artistic creator Anne Hamburger, along with scholars, urban designers, and theatre makers from Britain, the United States, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and Brazil offer thought-provoking insights on this perenial issue.
