Generalized shock stand-off distance equation of a sphere with dependence in viscosity

Résumé

The stand-off distance of a sphere’s shock wave is described by the well known equation of Ambrosio and Wortman (1962). However, for low Reynolds number, it appears that the stand-off distances increase and differ from the previous analytical relation. From experimental results, the present paper propose a new equation that takes into account the Mach number, the Reynolds number and the viscosity temperature index.
