The digital twin of a human for health

Le jumeau numérique d’un humain en santé

Résumé

The digital twin of a human being in the medical field offers new and valuable support to the practice of health professionals. This twin is a digital projection of the patient’s body integrating his personal data, processed by artificial intelligence. Depending on its various applications, it is possible, for example, to train ahead of an operation on the digital twin of a patient’s organ, to establish diagnoses, medical prognoses or to determine medication dosages. Through this lens, the digital twin can be regarded as a medical device. However, the regime surrounding this qualification remains incomplete, on one hand, considering the holistic or transhumanist ends of this virtual twinning, and, on the other hand, with regard to the rights granted to the person.
