Métamorphose des frontières de la mort et crise du mourir : le soins sous tension ?
Résumé
Medical progress in intensive care has changed society's "evidence" and representations and has led to a change in the paradigm based on which the observation and definition of death could be established. They have introduced a symbolic and social metamorphosis, in terms of mutation of the social view and imaginary in the relationship to death, which have given rise to questions about what sociologists and anthropologists have called "social death", and metaphysical and ethical, in terms of questioning the meaning of self-existence in the relationship to death and suffering at the end of life. This metamorphosis has given rise to a crisis of dying and the meaning of life and existence in the accompaniment of the end of life, revealing the ethical challenge and necessity of thinking about care beyond morbid fascination and therapeutic obstinacy.
