Caratterizzazione archeometrica e valutazione dello stato di conservazione delle monete: il caso studio di una selezione di antoniniani da un ripostiglio di fine III secolo a Cuma (Campania, Italia Meridionale)
Résumé
This study is based on the archaeometric results concerning a selection of Roman imperial coins (antoniniani) belonging to a hoard found in the Roman necropolis area in the ancient Cumae during the archaeological campaigns led by the Centre Jean Bérard. The primary objective of the investigation was to analyse the composition of the coins’ alloy and examine the corrosion patinas. To achieve this, a comprehensive multi-analytical approach was employed, utilizing non-destructive techniques such as stereomicroscopy, FESEM-EDS, pXRF, Raman spectroscopy, and μ-CT scanning.
