"The digital space as a resource for accessing an alternative caregiver discourse on caregiving", pp. 21-44

Résumé

This contribution is part of the ACCMADIAL project devoted to the experiences of caregivers of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The analysis of interviews in relation to media and legal discourses allowed us to identify some of the representations of caregiving from the point of view of institutional actors. But the apparent homogeneity of these dominant discourses was crossed by other voices, notably those of caregivers, testifying to different affiliations that we specifically analyze in this contribution. In order to study this hypothesis of a muted discourse, an alternative or counter-discourse, to which the digital world - thanks to its singular relational dynamics - could provide a space for expression, we have constituted a corpus of blogs whose authors are the caregivers themselves. Through a situated analysis of discourse, combining a quantitative textometric approach and a qualitative enunciative approach, the aim is to study how, through these linguistic practices, caregivers construct themselves, (re)define their status and roles, how they position themselves in relation to the discourse of traditional and/or legitimate actors, and what solutions they adopt to maintain, or even better live, their support.
