As atividades das "Mulheres das águas": questões para uma ergonomia contemporânea
Résumé
The objective of this article is to question the ergonomics on the basis of Roberto Novaes’ documentary-intervention, "Mulheres das águas" (women of the waters), which describes and comments on the activities of the fisherwomen in the mangroves of the North-East of Brazil. Their way of life, their work and the survival of their families are threatened by pollution from large industries and by tourism which damages the ecosystem. The documentary highlights the commitment and resistance of these women in their quest to preserve fishing grounds, maintain and expand their social rights, and improve their working and health conditions. We explore questions raised by the documentary that challenge contemporary ergonomics and appeal to: the category of analysis of intersectionality, the notion of extended harmfulness, the tradition of Freire’s education, and the approach of the territory as being acted in work activity.
