Three-Dimensional Printing of a Waveguide Termination for Millimeter Wave Applications

Résumé

This paper presents a 3D printed waveguide termination for millimeter wave bands. Dielectric properties characterization was done associated to electromagnetic (EM) simulations to predict component performance. Measured S11 parameter stays below -20 dB from 70 GHz to 110 GHz and below -24 dB over W-band (75-110 GHz). Best performance is achieved between 81 and 86 GHz (E-band space communication uplink band) with a reflection coefficient below -28 dB. This termination is cheap and lightweight.
