Electromagnetic Study of High Power Density : PMSM for Automotive Application

Résumé

This paper presents an analytical design method to improve the power density of an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) with multi-variable and multiobjective optimization based on a genetic algorithm (NSGA2). A 12-slot/8-pole topology with fractional-slot concentrated windings (FSCW) has been chosen. Several designs with different mechanical power, rotational speed, and voltage are carried out. As a key result, the increase of the power density of PMSMs is achieved mainly with the increase of the mechanical power, the rotational speed and the current density.
