Résumé

As an ethnologist, I founded in 2000 the association SeA Science et Art which implements an Environmental education through culture, i.e. art (culture) and ethnology (cultures) in partnership with local authorities, schools, children in leisure situations and adults. The genesis of this methodological approach was forged from an anthropological observation. My book Eduquer à l'environnement par l'approche sensible. Art, ethnology and ecology, reflects this double trajectory. The characteristic of the book is that it aims to combine research and application with a first anthropological part and a second pedagogical part including also implementation workshops bridging theory and practice. The first part hypothesises that the rupture between Science and Art is of the same origin as the rupture between Nature and Culture, and that these divorces are at the root of the disconnection between humans and their environment. The second part proposes an education to the environment through the sensitive, put into practice within SeA Science and Art, where the in itself of the emotional and intimate subject, the at home of the daily subject and of the local experience make sense to approach the general and the concept, which also corresponds to a reversal of the paradigm of objectivity that underlies the nature/culture and science/art ruptures. The proposed methodology invites us to build bridges between humans and nature, between each individual and his or her environment in the broadest sense, between the experiences of each individual and learning. The subtitle "Art, ethnology and ecology" indicates that the book also builds bridges between various disciplines. Between art and Environmental education, between ethnology and environmental education (ethnography of the territory, ethnopedagogy to approach other paradigms, anthropology to shift the gaze on the nature-culture relationship) but also between ethnology and art. We will show how developing environmentally sensitive hooks can answer the question that the contemporary world is asking itself: how to encourage the individual's desire to adapt his or her behaviour to environmental issues. In addition to the syndrome of the lack of nature, we add a dimension of loss of meaning that the re-enchantment of reality, the playfulness but also the symbolic volume of our responses to the world can alleviate and which allows us to question the paradigms of our relationship to the environment in the broad sense.
