The Impact of Incidental Emotions on Susceptibility to the Framing Effect: Failure to Detect a Moderating Effect of Happiness and Sadness
Résumé
When facing a choice between two equivalent options, decision has been shown to vary as a function of the formulation; this effect is named the framing effect, which has been linked to emotions. Using an emotional induction procedure, we explored whether induced happiness and sadness moderate framing susceptibility. Although sadness increased risky choices, neither sadness nor happiness significantly affected framing susceptibility. However, emotional arousal had an impact on the framing effect.
