Résumé
In this book, the authors present computational modeling approaches to simulate the response pattern of the mangrove ecosystem to sea level rise by optimizing the simulation to generate results that are faithful to reality through the use of diversified programming paradigms and technologies. The work is a result of the project entitled "Spatial Dynamics of Mangroves: Simulation of Sea Level Rise in Maranhão Island, Pre-Amazon Region", of the Federal Institute of Maranhão in collaboration with the École d'Ingénieur Généraliste en Informatique et Technologies du Numérique (Efrei Paris). The study area is the coastline of Maranhão and the methodological strategies were centered on the cellular automata approach and two- and three-dimensional simulation visualization approaches. The 3D simulations based on virtual geographic environment for demonstration of sea level rise focus on coastal areas of Maranhão Island and aim to identify sectors that may be flooded as a result of climate change and that are adjacent to mangrove areas. The book is intended for students, researchers, and professionals interested in the application of geotechnologies to model future coastal scenarios.
