Electron-induced ionization and cationic fragmentations of the isolated molecule of 2,4-imidazolidinedione (Hydantoin) : Study of the relaxing paths thresholds.

Résumé

In this work, ionization and fragmentation of the prebiotic molecule Hydantoin by electron impact was investigated in our new experimental set-up. Scanning of the incident electron energy make possible the determination of appearance thresholds of the parent molecule i.e. vertical ionization potential found in good agreement with previous data but also dissociation thresholds for the main fragmentation patterns. In parallel, thanks to quantum chemistry calculations, reaction schemes compatible with experimental results are given
