Boccaccio umanista e le Humanities digitali

Résumé

Humanist Boccaccio and Digital Humanities · The received view of Boccaccio is normally that of the last representative of the Middle Ages, and that of his contemporary Petrarch as the first of the Humanists. However, some recent studies have begun to propose an al- ternative and more multifaceted vision. Sabrina Ferrara has been work- ing on the Humanism of Boccaccio for some years in the perspective of a monograph that explores various literary, social and political fields in which the Certaldese has demonstrated a humanistic approach. The Inter-MSH project of the Maison des Sciences de l’homme offered the opportunity to test the hypothesis of Boccaccio’s humanism and his influence on the birth of European Humanism more generally. This has been done through Digital Humanities methodologies, of which Elena Pierazzo is one of the best-known specialists. We have combined our different skills to carry out the BONHum project, BOccace Nu- mérique HUManiste (18 months). At the crossroads of different dis- ciplines – Italian literature, medieval French literature, history of art and Digital Humanities – and supported by a team of international specialists, BONHum sought to apply semantic approaches to a selec- tion of Boccaccio’s texts, medieval translations and miniatures, each taken from the Decameron, from De mulieribus and from De casibus. This approach has focused on prosopographical annotations, on the analy- sis of sources and on identifying the different exegetical functions that Boccaccio accords to the literary text. After collecting metadata and modelling textual and figurative aspects, the texts were subjected to a systematic annotation using xml-tei and the images were annotated through a Django / Archetype, also used and an overall infrastructure for management and publication. The first result of this work is avail- able at http://bonhum.huma-num.fr/.
