Sustainable and Flexible Hub Location Problem

Résumé

This paper addresses a flexible and sustainable hub network design problem that considers integrated strategic decisions related to hub location, transportation network configuration, and environmental protection. The proposed approach is based on a multi-objective model, consisting in minimizing the economic cost of the carbon footprint related to hub emissions and transportation activities. To evaluate the performance and behavior of the model we propose, a series of numerical experiments based on reference instances present in the literature have been performed. The obtained results analyzed show that environmental efficiency and manager preferences have a significant impact on the structure and configuration of the designed network.
