The importance of fanzines in contemporary societies. Letters from France.
Résumé
Fanzines are small amateur publications that might appear insignificant in a world dominated by mass media. However, their microsocial impact (i.e. at individual level) might help to shape some sectors of our societies, from margins to the core, through a bottom-up effect. Some French examples that might be emblematic if not representative of the zine world diversity are presented. They show how amateurs inspired by a do-it-yourself ethos can build their own legitimacy in apparently locked professional sectors.
