Laminated rubber bearings subjected to combined shear and compressive loading: Heterogeneous ageing and crack growth in mode II

Résumé

The present contribution focuses on dynamic tests results concerning combined simple shear and compression on double shear samples at different ageing times and temperatures. A gradient of ageing and mode II cracking on the four sides of the specimens were observed. The apparent shear modulus was determined experimentally. Finite Element (FE) modelling consisted of meshing each specimen with its specific ageing condition (oxidized layer and crack depth) and applying bi-material model parameters. The simulated thickness of oxidized layer and the apparent shear modulus were in good agreement with the experimental measurements.
