Dans l’attente du vrai leader. Apocalypse et régénérescence en Inde hindoue.
Résumé
In contemporary Bengal, members of a religious group believe that an apocalyptic war is imminent. They say that this war will see the reappearance of Balak Brahmachari (1920-1993), their master who died in 1993, and Subhas Chandra Bose (1897-1945), the most famous Bengali independence leader, who is considered to have died in a plane crash in 1945. Based on an interview with the leader of the group, this article analyses the way its belief rests on the Hindu world’s theory of ages and the attribution of extraordinary powers to yogis. It also stresses how its force of attraction is based on nostalgia for a past greatness and the hope of regaining it.
