Resonant piezoelectric force sensor using two bending differential modes

Résumé

This study relates in a new strategy of command of piezoelectric sensor of force in order to measure pull and push forces. This strategy is based on a piezoelectric actuator which uses two bending differential modes. The operating principle of these measures are based in the change of the electromechanical impedance, therefore a variation of resonant frequency is attend. Thus a thermal compensation is also easy to put in application with this strategy. Firstly, this paper presents the theory of the modeling of the transducer. In a second time some experiments including thermal and force solicitations are presented and show interesting result especially for the thermal compensation. For force experiments, results are less clear and need further experience especially for small variations in order to have more precise results for this band range.
